Terms and Conditions

By making a booking with Elf Equine and Canine you are deemed to have read, understood and accepted these terms and conditions.

No smoking or vaping is permitted anywhere on site.

Dog Agility

Group lessons

A place on our course of lessons is booked for one dog and one handler and is not transferable. Upon booking with Elf Equine and Canine, training fees are due and should be made within 24 hours. Failure to do so may result in the booking being cancelled. Fees are due in advance of the start of the course and are non-refundable due to absence. There is the possibility of a make-up class being available, however this is not guaranteed.

You have the right to cancel your place on the course within 14 working days of booking your place. After those 14 days you will have no right to cancel and may still be charged. If the course starts within these 14 days your right of cancellation is forfeited.

Any cancellation must be made in writing by letter and/or text and/or email. If you fail to attend the course you will still be charged the full course fees. If you fail to attend two or more lessons of the course, without informing us, then you forfeit your place on the course and will still be charged.

Elf Equine and Canine reserve the right to cancel lessons, change the content, date, timing or instructor of these lessons. We strive to avoid this, however sometimes this is unavoidable due to weather, illness or other mitigating circumstances. Cancelled group lessons will be carried forward to the next week and the cost of the cancelled lesson will be deducted from the next course. Elf Equine and Canine is not liable for any losses or additional expenses incurred due to changes in the course or cancellations.

Any written or video content provided to you by Elf Equine and Canine remains the property of Elf Equine and Canine and may not be reproduced or passed on without written permission.

Private lessons

Half hour 1-2-1 lessons are bookable for up to one dog and handler. Hour 1-2-1 lessons are bookable for up to two dogs and handlers. Upon booking with Elf Equine and Canine fees are due and should be made within 24 hours. Failure to do so may result in the booking being cancelled. Fees are due before the date of the lesson and are non-refundable due to absence.

You have the right to cancel your lesson within 14 working days of booking your place. After those 14 days you will have no right to cancel and may still be charged. If the lesson is within these 14 days your right of cancellation is forfeited.

Any cancellation must be made in writing by letter and/or text and/or email. If you fail to attend the lesson you will still be charged the full fee. If you cannot make your private lesson an alternative date may be arranged. Notice must be given more than 48 hours before the lesson.

Any written or video content provided to you by Elf Equine and Canine remains the property of Elf Equine and Canine and may not be reproduced or passed on without written permission.

Guest Trainer Days and Skill Workshops

Upon booking with Elf Equine and Canine fees are due and should be made within 24 hours. Failure to do so may result in the booking being cancelled. Once a space has been booked for a training day or skill workshop it is non-refundable and it is the clients responsibility to check the waitlist, by contacting Elf Equine and Canine, and sell their space if they cannot attend the lesson.

Elf Equine and Canine reserve the right to cancel training days or skill workshops, change the content, date, timing or instructor of these lessons. We strive to avoid this, however sometimes this is unavoidable due to weather, illness or other mitigating circumstances. If the training day or skill workshop is cancelled a refund minus unavoidable costs will be issued to the client. If the training day or skill workshop moves to a different date a full refund will be issued to those that cannot make the new date and it will be Elf Equine and Canine’s responsibility to fill the space. Elf Equine and Canine is not liable for any losses or additional expenses incurred due to changes in the course or cancellations.

Training Your Dog

Half hour sessions are bookable for one dog. Upon booking with Elf Equine and Canine fees are due and should be made within 24 hours. Failure to do so may result in the booking being cancelled. Fees are due before the date of the session and are non-refundable due to absence or our inability to collect your dog through no fault of our own.

You have the right to cancel your session within 14 working days of booking your place. After those 14 days you will have no right to cancel and may still be charged. If the session is within these 14 days your right of cancellation is forfeited.

Any cancellation must be made in writing by letter and/or text and/or email. If you fail to attend the session you will still be charged the full fee. If you cannot make your session an alternative date may be arranged. Notice must be given more than 48 hours before the session.

Any written or video content provided to you by Elf Equine and Canine remains the property of Elf Equine and Canine and may not be reproduced or passed on without written permission.

Agility Rules

Follow all instructions given to you, including all safety instructions and arena rules, by your instructor and others associated with Elf Equine and Canine.

  • Do not use any of the equipment without your instructors permission and direction.

  • Please respect all of our property and equipment.

  • Do not climb on any of the fencing or lean against the netting as the netting will stretch and break.

  • Do not tie your dog to the fencing or gates

  • Clean up after your dog at all times and take your dog’s poo home with you.

  • Do not allow your dog to go to the toilet in the arena or pee on any of the fencing, plant pots, stables or equipment. Accidents do happen, let your instructor know so we can thoroughly clean the area.

  • Do NOT pick up the arena surface if you have to clean up after your dog.

  • Do NOT let your dog dig holes in the arena

  • Bang and wipe your feet on the mats when you leave the arena to save our sand and stop it spreading all around the yard.

  • Keep all dogs on their lead at all times whilst on site unless instructed otherwise.

  • Check chains, slip leads and extendable leads are not suitable for training. Electric, spray and prong collars are NOT allowed on site under any circumstances.

  • Bring lots of small soft, non-crumbly treats and your dogs favourite toy to training.

  • Harsh handling is NOT allowed under any circumstances. We reserve the right to remove any person from the premises and/or the course of lessons if they are deemed to be abusive towards any person or dog.

You are responsible for your dogs behaviour and actions at all times whilst on site. You are responsible for your own behaviour and that of any other persons you bring with you at all times whilst on site.

Please respect other peoples and their dogs personal space and stand an appropriate distance away from others. It is not encouraged to allow your dog to play with other dogs during lessons.

You take part in agility at your own risk and Elf Equine and Canine does not accept any responsibility for any loss or damages that may occur to you, your dog or your belongings when using the agility equipment and whilst on site.

Your dog must be fit, healthy and over 8 months old to take part in agility.

If you or your dog is ill do not attend training. This is to protect other members and dogs from catching any infectious diseases that could be potentially life threatening.

If you are in any doubt about your dogs health seek veterinary advice.

If your dog has been in contact with a dog that is a carrier of Kennel Cough or at a show where Kennel Cough has been reported you must inform your instructor and not attend training for 7 days. Kennel Cough is highly contagious and potentially life threatening and could close us down for 4 weeks.

Bitches in season can be accommodated but you must inform your instructor and class mates prior to your lesson to avoid any issues with entire males.

Report any accidents, issues or incidents involving other people or dogs immediately to their owner or your instructor.

Whilst every reasonable precaution is taken by Elf Equine and Canine to ensure the safety of all dogs, handlers, spectators and personal possessions whilst on site, Elf Equine and Canine and any individual or other organisation associated with Elf Equine and Canine accept no liability for any loss, damage or injury to dogs, persons or property, howsoever caused. Cars are parked at their owner’s risk and Elf Equine and Canine does not accept any responsibility for theft or damage to cars or property whilst on site.

Other people are welcome to attend training with you. These people are your responsibility and you must make them aware of all of the information above and any other rules and regulations given to you. All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Equestrian

Lessons

Lessons are bookable for one horse only, extra horses face additional charges. Upon booking with Elf Equine and Canine fees are due and should be made within 24 hours. Failure to do so may result in the booking being cancelled. Fees are due before the date of the lesson and are non-refundable due to absence.

You have the right to cancel your lesson within 14 working days of booking your place. After those 14 days you will have no right to cancel and may still be charged. If the lesson is within these 14 days your right of cancellation is forfeited.

Any cancellation must be made in writing by letter and/or text and/or email. If you fail to attend the lesson you will still be charged the full fee. If you cannot make your private lesson an alternative date may be sort. Notice must be given more than 48 hours before the lesson or hire.

Any written or video content provided to you by Elf Equine and Canine remains the property of Elf Equine and Canine and may not be reproduced or passed on without written permission.

Arena Rules

  • Riding hats must be worn at all times whilst mounted

  • Ask permission before entering and leaving the arena

  • Please respect our arena and help us look after our surface.

  • FEET MUST BE PICKED OUT before entering, removing all dirt and stones from the inside and outside of the foot, and before leaving, removing all sand and fibre from the inside and outside of the foot. There is a hoof pick and bucket available on the yard and a hoof pick available in the arena.

  • Bang and wipe your feet on the mats as you leave the arena. This helps us save the surface and keeps our prices down

  • All droppings must be picked up as soon as possible and must not be ridden over. When you pick up droppings remove as little surface as possible

  • Do not climb on the fencing or lean against the netting as the netting is not strong enough and will stretch and break

  • No jumping under floodlights

  • No lunging

  • Do not attend if you, your horse or anyone in your household displays any signs of illness. An alternative date may be arranged

Dog Walking

Elf Equine and Canine is an independent contractor and not an employee.

All walking dates must be confirmed in advance IN WRITING. Last minute walks may be available dependant on availability but are not guaranteed.

Walks can only commence once Elf Equine and Canine has performed a ‘meet and greet’ at your home and all relevant forms have been filled in correctly and signed. If any changes to these forms occur the client must notify Elf Equine and Canine before any future walk occurs.

Elf Equine and Canine has the right to use a mutually agreed upon substitute walker if for any reason they are unable to walk the clients dog(s).

If any concerns or complaints arise concerning the clients dog(s) Elf Equine and Canine must be informed within 24 hours of the walk so they can rectify the problem.

Half hour walks are £15 and hour walks are £20 for one dog. Additional dogs are charged at £5 per dog.  Walk times may vary up to 5 minutes depending on several factors including but not limited to the pace your dog walks and training issues. If Elf Equine and Canine are providing sitting services walks are included in that service.

Upon booking your dates of the walk the full amount is payable. Payment confirms your booking and Elf Equine and Canine reserves the right to cancel your booking if payment is not made. If the booking is cancelled within 7 day of the start date of the walk no refund will be given. Your booking may be rearranged only once if cancelled within 7 days and before 48 hours of the start date. No refund will be given for cancelled walks, only credit for future services.

It is the clients responsibility to ensure the house and garden are fully secure and safe for the dog(s) and Elf Equine and Canine is not liable for any mishap of whatsoever nature which may befall a dog or be caused by a dog who has unsupervised access to the outdoors.

The walker will leave the clients dog(s) as they found them unless otherwise stated during the ‘meet and greet’ or in writing if this changes after the ‘meet and greet’.

If Elf Equine and Canine cannot get to your dog to provide their service through no fault of Elf Equine and Canine’s no refund will be given and they will not go back to try again. If Elf Equine and Canine has to go back to try again for the dogs safety an additional fee will be charged.

The client must notify Elf Equine and Canine if their bitch comes into season. Elf Equine and Canine is happy to walk in season bitches but will change walk routes and keep them on lead to reduce the risk of any accidents happening. The client must take full responsibility for any accidents that do occur and understand that Elf Equine and Canine is not at fault or liable if an off lead dog does approach and mate with their in season bitch. The risk of unwanted mating will never by 0 and Elf Equine and Canine is not liable if this does occur with another dog belonging to a member of the public. If you are uncomfortable with your in season bitch going for a walk this can be changed to a half hour pop in and charged accordingly.

All dog(s) must have a suitable collar, lead, harness, coat and/or muzzle available for the walker to use. An ID tag must be attached to their collar/harness whilst they are in public areas.

It is the clients responsibility to ensure that their dog(s) have everything they may need on their walk and after their walk. The Great British weather can change at any moment and it is the clients responsibility to provide any waterproof coat, dry coat, jumper, harness etc. that their dog(s) may need.

Walks will still take place if it is cold or raining or a bit windy. Dog(s) may get muddy, wet or roll in something they shouldn’t on walks and Elf Equine and Canine will not have time to thoroughly wash them without reducing the walking time. Elf Equine and Canine will towel dry all dogs that get wet or muddy but it is the clients responsibility to provide any coats or dry towels for their dog(s) and instruct Elf Equine and Canine on where to leave their dog(s) if they are wet or muddy. Elf Equine and Canine is not liable for any cleaning costs occurred by the client due to their dog(s) being left after a wet and/or muddy walk.

In adverse weather conditions Elf Equine and Canine reserves the right to cancel walks or provide alternative services for the safety of the dog(s). If your walk is cancelled or the alternative service provided is cheaper than your monies will be credited to your next bill.

Elf Equine and Canine is not responsible for any damages or veterinary costs incurred during their walks unless they are found to be negligent. It is the responsibility of the client to insure that Elf Equine and Canine has all the necessary information to care for and walk your dog correctly and safely.

During normal dog play dogs may sustain injury despite careful monitoring by Elf Equine and Canine. Should the clients dog(s) attack/be involved in a fight with another dog and/or person resulting in injury to that dog and/or person the client is responsible for any losses incurred as a result including, but not limited to, payment of medical fees for other animals/people caused by their dog(s). Elf Equine and Canine will inform the client of any incident, accident or anything they notice about their dog which the client ought to know about.

It is the clients responsibility to reimburse Elf Equine and Canine for any additional expenses incurred by Elf equine and Canine including, but not limited to, medical costs (animal and human), damages resulting from injury to the walker or other dogs/people as well as damages to property. The client will indemnify and hold harmless Elf Equine and Canine in the event of a claim by any other person as a result of injury or damage caused by the clients dog(s).

Should the clients dog(s) become aggressive or dangerous Elf Equine and Canine has the right to stop their walk immediately and terminate their contract with immediate effect and no refund for future walks will be given.

If the client wishes Elf Equine and Canine to walk their dog(s) off lead they must be aware of the following; All dogs will have six walks on lead to assess their suitability to being off lead. Elf Equine and Canine will have less control over the clients dog(s) actions and therefore accepts no liability for any damages caused to or by the clients dog(s) or other members of the public’s dog(s). The client must take full responsibility for any disappearances of their dog(s) and all actions of their dog(s) whilst off lead. If Elf Equine and Canine deems the clients dog(s) to be unsafe off lead they reserve the right to keep them on lead or use a long line in suitable areas.

Pop in Visits

Elf Equine and Canine is an independent contractor and not an employee.

All pop in dates must be confirmed in advance IN WRITING. Last minute pop ins may be available dependant on availability but are not guaranteed.

Pop ins can only commence once Elf Equine and Canine has performed a ‘meet and greet’ at your home and all relevant forms have been filled in correctly and signed. If any changes to these forms occur the client must notify Elf Equine and Canine before any future pop ins occur.

Elf Equine and Canine has the right to use a mutually agreed upon substitute person to perform the pop in if for any reason they are unable to perform the pop in themselves.

If any concerns or complaints arise concerning the clients dog(s) Elf Equine and Canine must be informed within 24 hours of the pop in so they can rectify the problem.

Half hour pop ins are £15 for all dogs in the household

Upon booking your dates of the pop in the full amount is payable. Payment confirms your booking and Elf Equine and Canine reserves the right to cancel your booking if payment is not made. If the booking is cancelled within 7day of the start date of the pop in no refund will be given. Your booking may be rearranged only once if cancelled within 7 days and before 48 hours of the start date. No refund will be given for cancelled pop ins, only credit for future services.

It is the clients responsibility to ensure the house and garden are fully secure and safe for the dog(s) and Elf Equine and Canine is not liable for any mishap of whatsoever nature which may befall a dog or be caused by a dog who has unsupervised access to the outdoors.

The pop in provider will leave the clients dog(s) as they found them unless otherwise stated during the ‘meet and greet’ or in writing if this changes after the ‘meet and greet’.

If Elf Equine and Canine cannot get to your dog to provide their service through no fault of Elf Equine and Canine’s no refund will be given and they will not go back to try again. If Elf Equine and Canine has to go back to try again for the dogs safety an additional fee will be charged.

The client must notify Elf Equine and Canine if their bitch comes into season. Elf Equine and Canine is happy to provide pop ins for in season bitches. The client must take full responsibility for any accidents that do occur and understand that Elf Equine and Canine is not at fault or liable if another dog on the clients property mates with their in season bitch. The risk of unwanted mating will never by 0 and Elf Equine and Canine is not liable if this does occur with another dog belonging to the client.

It is the clients responsibility to ensure that their dog(s) have everything they may need for their pop in visit. The Great British weather can change at any moment and it is the clients responsibility to provide any waterproof coat, dry coat, jumper, harness etc. that their dog(s) may need.

Pop ins will still take place if it is cold or raining or a bit windy. Dog(s) may get muddy, wet or roll in something they shouldn’t during their garden time during the pop in and Elf Equine and Canine will not thoroughly wash them if this does occur. Elf Equine and Canine will towel dry all dogs that get wet or muddy but it is the clients responsibility to provide any coats or dry towels for their dog(s) and instruct Elf Equine and Canine on where to leave their dog(s) if they are wet or muddy. Elf Equine and Canine is not liable for any cleaning costs occurred by the client due to their dog(s) being left after a wet and/or muddy pop in.

In adverse weather conditions Elf Equine and Canine reserves the right to cancel pop ins if it is dangerous for the person to travel to the clients house. If your pop in is cancelled then your monies will be credited to your next bill.

Elf Equine and Canine is not responsible for any damages or veterinary costs incurred during their pop in visits unless they are found to be negligent. It is the responsibility of the client to insure that Elf Equine and Canine has all the necessary information to care for your dog(s) correctly and safely.

Should the clients dog(s) become aggressive or dangerous Elf Equine and Canine has the right to stop their pop in immediately and terminate their contract with immediate effect and no refund for future pop ins will be given.

House Sitting

Elf Equine and Canine is an independent contractor and not an employee.

All sitting dates must be confirmed in advance IN WRITING. Emergency sitting may be available dependant on availability but is not guaranteed.

Sittings can only commence once Elf Equine and Canine has performed a ‘meet and greet’ at your home and all relevant forms have been filled in correctly and signed. If any changes to these forms occur the client must notify Elf Equine and Canine before any future sittings occur.

Elf Equine and Canine has the right to use a mutually agreed upon substitute sitter if for any reason they are unable to provide the sitting service for the clients dog(s).

The client must provide a safe and clean home for the sitter to stay in.

If any concerns or complaints arise concerning the clients dog(s) Elf Equine and Canine must be informed within 24 hours of the sitting so they can rectify the problem.

All sittings are individually priced depending on the clients and the dogs needs. It is the clients responsibility to insure that they have informed Elf Equine and Canine of all services they wish the sitter to perform over the sitting period. Additional fees may be added to the clients bill if Elf Equine and Canine have to provide additional services during the sitting.

Sittings start from £55 per night, this is from midday to midday the following day, for up to two dogs. This includes the usual activities the average pet would be normally provided with by their owner, including but not limited to; feeding, grooming and walks/play. The clients pet(s) must be able to be left for a maximum of 4 hours or be able to go with the sitter during the day to other jobs. If the clients pet(s) cannot be left or taken with the sitter the hourly rate of £12 per hour applies.

Additional dogs are charged at £12 per dog per day and cats at £3.50 per cat per day. Additional half days are £25. Other animals may also incur an additional charge and it is the clients responsibility to inform Elf Equine and Canine of these animals and agree a price for the service.

Upon booking your dates for the sitting a 25% deposit is payable to confirm your dates and Elf Equine and Canine reserves the right to cancel your booking if payment is not made. This deposit is non-refundable if the booking is cancelled within 14 days of the start date of the sitting. The full amount of the sitting is payable 7 days before the start of the sitting. If the sitting is terminated during the sitting period by either party the full amount is still payable. No refund will be given for cancelled sittings, only credit for future services.

It is the clients responsibility to ensure the house and garden are fully secure and safe for the pet(s) and Elf Equine and Canine is not liable for any mishap of whatsoever nature which may befall a pet or be caused by another animal/pet who has unsupervised access to the outdoors.

The sitter will leave the clients pet(s) as they found them unless otherwise stated during the ‘meet and greet’ or in writing if this changes after the ‘meet and greet’.

The client must notify Elf Equine and Canine if their bitch comes into season. Elf Equine and Canine is happy to provide sitting services to in season bitches but will change walk routes and keep them on lead to reduce the risk of any accidents happening. The client must take full responsibility for any accidents that do occur and understand that Elf Equine and Canine is not at fault or liable if an off lead dog does approach and mate with their in season bitch or another dog on the clients property mates with their in season bitch. The risk of unwanted mating will never by 0 and Elf Equine and Canine is not liable if this does occur with another dog belonging to a member of the public or the client. If you are uncomfortable with your in season bitch going for a walk Elf Equine and Canine will provide enriching games in the clients garden instead.

All dog(s) must have a suitable collar, lead, harness, coat and/or muzzle available for the sitter to use if applicable. An ID tag must be attached to their collar/harness whilst they are in public areas.

It is the clients responsibility to ensure that their dog(s) have everything they may need on their walk and after their walk during the sitting period. The Great British weather can change at any moment and it is the clients responsibility to provide any waterproof coat, dry coat, jumper, harness etc. that their dog(s) may need.

Walks will still take place if it is cold or raining or a bit windy. Dog(s) may get muddy, wet or roll in something they shouldn’t on walks and Elf Equine and Canine will clean all dogs if this occurs but will not give them a full bath unless their health is affected. Elf Equine and Canine will towel dry all dogs that get wet or muddy but it is the clients responsibility to provide any coats or dry towels for their dog(s) and instruct Elf Equine and Canine on where to leave their dog(s) if they are wet or muddy. Elf Equine and Canine is not liable for any cleaning costs occurred by the client due to their dog(s) being left after a wet and/or muddy walk.

In adverse weather conditions Elf Equine and Canine reserves the right to cancel planned walks or provide alternative services for the safety of the dog(s).

Elf Equine and Canine is not responsible for any loss, damage or veterinary costs incurred during the sitting unless they are found to be negligent. It is the responsibility of the client to insure that Elf Equine and Canine has all the necessary information to care for their pet(s) correctly and safely.

During normal dog play my dog may sustain injury despite careful monitoring by Elf Equine and Canine Should the clients dog(s) attack/be involved in a fight with another dog and/or person resulting in injury to that dog and/or person the client is responsible for any losses incurred as a result including, but not limited to, payment of medical fees to other animals/people caused by my dog(s). Elf Equine and Canine will inform the client of any incident, accident or anything they notice about their dog which the client ought to know about.

It is the clients responsibility to reimburse Elf Equine and Canine for any additional expenses incurred by Elf Equine and Canine during the sitting period including, but not limited to, medical costs (animal and human), damages resulting from injury to the sitter or other dogs/people as well as damages to property. The client will indemnify and hold harmless Elf Equine and Canine in the event of a claim by any other person as a result of injury or damage caused by the clients dog(s).

Should the clients dog(s) become aggressive or dangerous Elf Equine and Canine has the right to stop the sitting and terminate this contract with immediate effect and no refund will be given. If termination occurs Elf Equine and Canine will make every attempt to contact the client and all emergency contacts provided. Elf Equine and Canine will not leave the dog uncared for unless the safety of the sitter is at risk.

If the client wishes Elf Equine and Canine to walk their dog(s) off lead they must be aware of the following; All dogs will have six walks on lead to assess their suitability to being off lead. Elf Equine and Canine will have less control over the clients dog(s) actions and therefore accepts no liability for any damages caused to or by the clients dog(s) or other members of the public’s dog(s). The client must take full responsibility for any disappearances of their dog(s) and all actions of their dog(s) whilst off lead. If Elf Equine and Canine deems the clients dog(s) to be unsafe off lead they reserve the right to keep them on lead or use a long line in suitable areas.

Data Protection and Privacy

All information collected from your registration forms will only be used as a record of you and your dog and/or horse and to contact you in relation to training. It will not be passed onto any third parties. We may send you emails related to Elf Equine and Canine including; news, class cancelation, training dates, events and shows. If you wish to opt out of these emails please send an email to elfequineandcanine@gmail.com with the subject ‘Unsubscribe’.

Photo/video Use

By placing a booking you give Elf Equine and Canine permission to publish photographs and video film of you, your dog and/or your horse. These images may appear in printed publications, including the news media, our website and social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Youtube.

Images of children under the age of 18 will not be published without prior permission from their parent or guardian.
